My mother was having difficulty living on her own. She knew it was time to make a change in her living situation so she could be closer to us. We weren’t quite sure how/where to start. Kendra took the time to meet with us to hear our concerns and answer questions.
She let us know our options for levels of care and helped put together a list of places to visit (and also arranged tours!). It was comforting and supportive to have her accompany us on visits to different facilities. Kendra took the stress out of finding the perfect living situation for my Mom within our budget. Thank you so much, Kendra!!!

Do any one of these describe your current situation?
Family members and seniors alike come to me to overcome one of these challenges…
Unsure whether it's the right time.
Your intuition is telling you that you or your loved one may be needing more support, out of health or safety concerns.
It can be difficult to figure it out a 100% by solely relying on your gut.
Talking out your experiences with someone who can professionally assess the situation and map out a plan of action – whether it’d be for the immediate or the foreseeable future – can provide a piece of mind.
Rather than having to make a forced, last-minute decision on such a life-changing move, planning ahead with next steps include knowing your budget, communities that are suitable and available which reduces the guess-work within the unknown.
Avoiding the difficult conversations.
As a family member, especially as a child of senior parents, discussing care issues can become very difficult.
It can be hard for both parties to accept that the same people, who once took care of us, may now need assistance in caring for themselves.
And from a parent’s perspective, it is even harder to perceive an inversion of roles. Does this sound familiar: “You’re now going to tell me what to do with my life?!”
No matter how uncomfortable the situation may be, having these conversations today will make things easier when the time comes.
One of the best ways to manage these is to bring in a neutral party who can lead the “negotiations”, which can dampen a lot of the emotionality that arises.
Overwhelmed by the options.
If you’ve already started researching, you probably know by now that there are over 700 communities in San Diego County alone. Each has its unique mix of senior care services, amenities, levels of care, room and community sizes and types, pricing and packages.
Living options for seniors have dramatically evolved from a typical “nursing home” to a plethora of community types, such as Assisted Living, Independent Living, Memory Care, Residential Care and Skilled Nursing/Rehab.
Thanks to my long experience visiting and working with all the different communities, I have developed processes, relationships, and tools that help navigate through all of these complexities and narrow down your options to 2 or 3 that are right for you.
This is how you figure your best options
From ideas to final decision and eventual move-in
Assessment of needs
Goal: Identify your needs - budget, care needs, desired location, social activities, and medical requirements.
Touring & decision making
Goal: Together, visit the community and experience the environment. As I always say, ‘You know it when you see it’.
After placement support
Goal: Validate the right decision was made, the community is right for you and celebrate!
Matching & community selection
Goal: Match your preferences with 2-3 communities that align with needs and budget.
Planning the move-in
Goal: making the necessary pre-arrangements for a smooth move.

Frequently Asked Questions
Initial consultation is free of charge. I charge a very basic fee which is refundable if a decision to move is reached within 30 days of us working together.
Not at all. Some agencies – like Noni’s – are more localized and have agents familiar with the local market.
Others may be large, national platforms or franchises that rely on financial arrangements with communities rather than prioritizing direct, on-the-ground evaluation of the premises, level of care, and the staff.
Even at a local level, some agents physically tour and assess the communities. Others solely rely on their trust in the community staff and owners.
I belong to the former since I know that things are constantly changing and evolving at the community level, for the better or the worse.
Finding the right senior living community is time-consuming and emotionally taxing, especially if other family members are involved in the decision making.
I help you narrow down your options based on my assessment of everyone’s needs and my knowledge of and first-hand experience with each of the communities.
Having someone like myself acting as a neutral party will make the conversations much smoother and hence the decision less painful.
The time between initial contact with a senior living agency and move-in can range from a few days to several months.
The urgency of the move, the availability of suitable communities, and the individual’s readiness to move all play a role.
